I know… Probably some of you would say “Oh no! not another Booktoker!”. Surpise, surprise! Here I am raving about this Book Series now!
I never have thought that I would be into reading books again. I do read some books here and there. I usually read some Self-Help books that I believe very beneficial for myself surviving this life. But, my co-worker finally able to recruit me in this The Empyrean Series Fan Club.
This series is definitely my newest Favorite. Ofcourse there was Harry Potter, the all time Fall Books, and then there is Twillight series. Then we grew older and moved to Fifty Shades of Grey. Then I got stuck. I was not able to move on from Fifty Shades for a long time until life happens and pushed me to focus on Real Life.
Now that Life has been a little kind to me lately, I found some time to endulge myself and paused my Anime Marathon for a while. I have seen this Book series for a long time already online but I never really trusted myself to buy it. I see books lately as an investment, something that could bring me some knowledge and educate me on some aspects of life that I can’t just learn on my own. So spending 21 Euro for a book is definitely a bit too much for me…
But then, a Colleague at work introduced me to Fourth Wig series during one of my Night Shift at work with her. I told her that I have seen it online and I was meaning to get it but I am still very unsure spending money and end up not enjoying it. So she brought her Hard Copy with her so I can read the first few chapters of it. And from then on I WAS HOOKED!
I know, I know! you will probably researched and read some reviews about it and you’ll maybe think it’s just all about spicy scenes buuuuut let me stop you there.
The Empyrean Series is not just all about that. If you take those spicy scenes out of the picture, the whole story is actually really cool. This is not just your normal Fantasy, Dragon Story. If you try to really understand the story in a deeper level, It’s more like a country being divided and is falling apart against the real enemy because for some reason, those people incharge of governing it, changes what’s written in thier History books. This Series is a Fantasy book, but if I try to understand it in this level, I can somehow relate to it since this has also been happening in the Philippines.
“Historical revisionism has become a strategic tactic for Filipino politicians like BBM to persuade voters by reinterpreting history in their political favor. Historical revisionism takes place in media outlets, social media and educational materials. “Troll farms,” the use of fake accounts with false information, reportedly rose during the election season. Pro-Marcos propaganda changed the legacy of the Marcos family to match the myth of the “golden era”. Even in school curriculum, Filipino textbooks have raised concerns about misinformation. In some classrooms, discussion about martial law is limited despite its impact in the Philippine’s history. “

It also touches a story of a Family trying to save one another within thier own means and within thier powers. It shows complicated relationships between parents and children that despite what happens, a parent will always love thier children. It might look different in the eyes of others or even in eyes of the child itself but at the end of the day, a mother will always love her children in her own ways.
The whole Spicy scenes are just an exrta, like a surpirice from Rebecca Yarros once in a while when I felt depressed with the whole situation between the characters. It is also very heavy in Romance. Ofcourse the whole Boyfriend-Girlfriend relationship could show some red flags or for some, it’s giving obsessed boyfriend feel. But who doesn’t like it when our Man prioritizes us, giving us all the attention in the world, or wanting us all the time? Girl, if you say no to all of it, then I’m not sure what kind of relationship you want.
I personally enjoyed it because it was written in a more casual way. It was easy to read. Ofcourse it is not like any Literary Merit books like Pride and Prejudice, but despite the casual feel of the writting style, it catches raw emotions. It has scenes that are deep enough to pull out a roller coaster of emotions. You will never even notice that you already fell in this deep magical world until you reach the last part of the Onxy Storm. It will definitely make you want to know what’s next!
Just give it a try and let me know what you think!
*Spoiler alert!*
or maybe we can Brainstorm who’s the new brother? 😉
